Workshop: Temporal and functional flexibility in the workplace

The second workshop in the series 'New Work in public administration' will take place on 19-20 September 2024. Once again, the workshop is being organised by the National Institute for Public Administration Germany (NIPAG) in cooperation with the Subcommittee on General Administrative Organisation (UA AV) of Task Force VI of the Conference of the Ministers of the Interior, chaired by Prof. Dr Jan Ziekow and Dr Silke I. Keil.
Under the motto 'New Work', this year's conference will once again bring together prominent senior figures from federal and state authorities as well as the private sector to discuss flexible work arrangements in terms of time and tasks. In a series of keynote speeches from the scientific community (NIPAG), the private sector (Deutsche Bahn AG), public administration (Brandenburg Ministry of the Interior, Bremen Senator for Finance, Berlin Senate Department for the Interior and Sport) and local government (Ludwigshafen am Rhein City Council, Hanover City Council), participants will gain insight into various New Work concepts that have already been implemented or will be implemented in the future. A follow-up discussion will give all participants the chance to exchange views on obstacles and successes in the design, introduction and/or ongoing implementation of New Work.
The event is a continuation of the workshop 'New Work in administration' for the Subcommittee on General Administrative Organisation (UA AV) of Task Force VI of the Conference of the Ministers of the Interior, which the NIPAG successfully staged for the first time in June 2023. In this workshop, participants were able to intensively discuss the practical implementation of approaches to New Work in public administration at all three administrative levels. The workshop focused on the role of management and administration as an attractive employer.
