Turkish delegation visits the ComYC

[Translate to English:] Türkische Delegation, KomJC

On 19 October 2023, a delegation from the Turkish Ministries of Youth and Sports, National Education and Labour and Social Affairs visited the Competence Centre Youth-Check (ComYC) in Berlin. The delegation was invited by the German-Turkish Special Committee of the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth.

At the bilateral expert meeting, Rebecca Romes, Managing Director ComYC, and Research Associate Sophie Brandes presented the youth-check and the work of the ComCY. The ComYC is a project by the NIPAG and is responsible for carrying out the youth-check. The youth-check is an effective instrument of regulatory impact assessment. In order to raise awareness of the concerns of young people at an early stage in the legislative process, the youth-check is applied to proposed legislation during the draft bill stage. Bills of the German Federal Government are examined with regard to their effect on young people between 12 and 27 years of age. With its unique expertise, the ComYC is the independent unit for youth-specific regulatory impact assessment in Germany.

During their visit, the delegation gained insights into the German legislative process and the involvement of the youth-check in this process. In an intensive exchange, the possibilities of consulting young people were also discussed.
