The income situation of civil servant households in lower pay grades

The concept of remuneration requires that employers guarantee their civil servants a financially adequate income for the performance of their duties. The prevailing opinion is that this also encompasses the family, for whose financial requirements the salary scales include family allowances. The objective of the project was to examine the actual income situation of civil servants in the lower and middle grades. The analysis should also provide information on whether and to what extent the household model assumed by the Federal Constitutional Court still corresponds to the reality of the civil servants' households and where the 'breaking points' are.
