Scientific survey of bureaucratic burdens at local government level by the North-Rhine Westphalia (NRW) Transparency Commission
The government of North Rhine-Westphalia has established the NRW Transparency Commission with the objective of empowering local authorities in North Rhine-Westphalia and, in particular, alleviating them of bureaucratic burdens towards the state. To this end, detailed proposals for streamlining bureaucratic processes through task analysis and standards reviews are to be developed. In this context, in August 2020, the Ministry of the Interior, Local Government, Building and Equal Opportunities of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (MHKBG NRW) has commissioned a project group at the National Institute for Public Administration Germany, led by Prof. Grohs, to conduct a survey among local authorities, districts and regional associations in NRW. The objective is to develop concrete proposals for reducing bureaucracy through task analysis and standards reviews. (Publications are in German.)
