Retrospective: International Conference 'Regulatory Impact Assessment for the Young Generation'

Event organised by the Youth Check Centre of Excellence

Description and content of the event

What does a youth-specific regulatory impact assessment need to be successful and effective? This was the question that was on the minds of speakers and the audience at the international conference to address the 'Regulatory Impact Assessment for the Young Generation', held on 9 May 2022 at the representative office of the State of Saarland to the Federal Government in Berlin. The international conference was organised by the Youth Check Centre of Excellence (KomJC).

In addition to expert presentations outlining best practice examples of Youth Checks and their relationship to the regulatory impact assessment system in Germany, Austria and Flanders (Belgium), a discussion session on successes and challenges was also scheduled.

The conference was opened with speeches by Prof. Dr Jan Ziekow, Director of the National Institute for Public Administration Germany and Head of the KomJC, Bettina Bundszus, Head of the Department for Children and Youth at the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ) and a keynote speech by Moritz Ader, policy analyst at the OECD. A summary was provided by Immanuel Benz, Head of the Department for Youth Strategy and Independent Youth Policy at the BMFSFJ, and Dr Anja Kettgen-Hahn, General Manager of the KomJC.
