Launch of the project "AI and AI Compliance in Public Administration"
The research project “AI and AI Compliance in Public Administration” examines how artificial intelligence is used in public administration and what rules apply.
The aim of the project is to systematically document how AI is used at the federal, state, and local levels, and what regulations exist or are being developed to ensure compliance. The topic was already discussed at the workshop “AI Compliance? – Regulations on the Use of AI in Public Administration” in the summer of 2025 with representatives from public administration and academia.
The discussion focused in particular on opportunities, challenges, and practical experiences. The research project builds on this workshop and aims to use a broad empirical data set to increase transparency and provide a sound basis for decision-making on the responsible use of AI in public administration. Methodologically, the project is based on a mixed-methods approach that combines quantitative and qualitative data to achieve as comprehensive a picture as possible.
