Evaluation of the reorganisation of the Federal Police - Federal Police Headquarters
The emergence of new challenges and the aggravation of existing challenges for the Federal Police make it imperative to fulfil the related tasks in the future, taking into account the constraints of the limited public budget. Consequently, the Federal Police have been restructured by the law amending the Federal Police Act of 26 February 2008 in order to increase the operational effectiveness of the Federal Police, in particular its visibility, by streamlining and increasing the efficiency and flexibility of the organisation (see Parliamentary Document 16/6291).
In order to achieve these goals, the Federal Police Headquarters in Potsdam has been established as a higher federal authority which controls and is responsible for the work of the entire Federal Police. This reorganisation of the Federal Police is subject to a comprehensive evaluation in order to determine the degree to which the objectives, the desired impact and the economic efficiency have been achieved. In this context, the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI) has commissioned the National Institute for Public Administration Germany to evaluate the establishment of the Federal Police Headquarters.
