Between 2020 and 2022, the NIPAS's Policy and Consulting Division conducted an evaluation of the communication measures employed by the Federal Office for the Safety of Nuclear Waste Management (Bundesamt für die Sicherheit der nuklearen Entsorgung - BASE) and a service provider commissioned by BASE. The effectiveness and efficiency of BASE's activities were examined, with a particular focus on its role as the agency responsible for public participation in the site selection procedure and as the supervisory authority for the search for a suitable repository site.
