AI Compliance? Regulations on the Use of AI in Public Administration

From June 30 to July 01, the workshop “AI Compliance? - Regulations on the use of AI in public administration” will take place on the premises of The National Institute for Public Administration Germany (NIPAG) in Berlin under the direction of Prof. Dr. Jan Ziekow und Dr. Silke I. Keil.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly being used in public administration, but so far inconsistently and often without binding standards, which represents a significant compliance gap. Holistic AI compliance should go beyond data protection and also consider transparency, fairness, traceability and accountability in order to minimize risks and create trust.
In order to gain initial insights into compliance regulations and the use of AI in public administration, this workshop will present regulations and practical experiences in several input presentations from the areas of public administration at federal level (Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs), at state level (Berlin Senate Chancellery, Ministry of the Interior, for Digitization and Municipalities Baden-Württemberg, Bavarian State Ministry of Finance and Home Affairs) and at municipal level (City of Leipzig, City of Munich, City of Schorndorf). A subsequent discussion will offer all participants the opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences on the applicability, opportunities and challenges of AI and AI compliance.
