Delegation from Cambodia visits the NIPAG

In October, the National Institute for Public Administration Germany (NIPAG) hosted a delegation of academics from National Mekong University in Cambodia. On arrival, the guests were welcomed by Director Prof. Dr Jan Ziekow and introduced to the wide-ranging research programme at the NIPAG. They expressed interest in individual project results and their possible transferability to the specific conditions in place in Cambodia.

Their focus was on public financial management and fiscal decentralisation. However, they also discussed the importance of considering decentralisation and deconcentration from the perspective of governance mechanisms, taking into account all administrative levels. They also wanted to learn about the practical implementation of spatial planning in Germany. All topics were considered against the background of the growing demands of e-government.

During their time in Speyer, the guests engaged in discussions with NIPAG Research Associates and also sought dialogue with decision-makers in administrative practice. This took place in order to gain a comprehensive picture of current developments and discussions in Germany.

The visit was conducted as part of the 'Improving public service delivery for the general public in Cambodia (ISD)' programme, which is administered by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).
