In December 2022, the NIPAG completed the study commissioned by the German Confederation of Trade Unions (DGB) and the German Civil Service Federation on 'The prevalence of violence against workers in urban and intercity passenger transport, and considers potential courses of action'.

The study revealed a high level of violence against workers in the transport sector. Over 40% of respondents indicated that they had been victims of violence at least once in 2019 and 2021. This figure is almost twice as high as in the public sector. Furthermore, the dark figure, i.e. the ratio of unreported assaults to experienced assaults, is also very high at 66 per cent. The results of the study have been presented to a wide audience in various lectures (e.g. at the ÖPNV Betriebsrätekongress on 18 November 2022 in Dortmund) and have also been published as a Speyer research report, which can be downloaded here  (in German only).
