Welcome to the National Institute for Public Administration Germany (NIPAG)

Centre of excellence for research and consulting in public administration

As a centre of excellence that sets standards in German, European and international public administration research and consultancy, the NIPAG is unique in Germany. The NIPAG is jointly funded by the Federal Government and the States and has a strong international network. 'Research on and for the public administration' has been the motto and mission of the National Institute for Public Administration Germany (NIPAG) since its foundation in 1976. The NIPAG analyses public administration at all levels, from local to European and international, and identifies opportunities for their development and improvement.

What approach should 'the' public administration take in order to ensure its organisational capability and to recognise the relevant tasks of the future at an early stage, given the differentiated consideration of levels and functions?

How can the legal framework of the constitutional state and the values of society be transformed into efficient digital solutions?

Gruppe diverser Menschen mit unterschiedlichen Berufen aus dem öffentlichen Dienst

What skills will be needed for an effective and efficient public administration in the future, and how can these skills be developed in public servants in a focussed manner?

Our services

The NIPAG delivers pioneering research that can be effectively translated into administrative practice and evidence-based policy and advice through a unified approach. The results of our research and consultancy work are directly integrated into a comprehensive transfer programme that includes national and international conferences, workshops and seminars.
