NIPAG Workshop in Berlin on AI compliance: experts discuss regulations for the use of artificial intelligence in public administration
From June 30 to July 1, 2025, the workshop "AI Compliance? - Regulations on the Use of AI in Public Administration" took place at the NIPAG Berlin. Experts from the public sector provided insights into current developments and regulations on the use of artificial intelligence at federal, state and municipal level. From specific practical examples from Leipzig and Berlin to the Bavarian administration's AI guidelines, the workshop offered valuable perspectives on the integration of AI into public administration processes. The 40 participants took the opportunity to engage in intensive discussions.

Evaluation of TV Umbau II successfully completed
TV Umbau II successfully evaluated: The final report is available and was handed over on time. The results now form the basis for future collective bargaining policy decisions and further developments.

Evaluation of the Saxon police law completed
As of June 30, 2025, the evaluation conducted by the National Institute for Public Administration Germany of five authorization provisions of the Saxon Law on the Police Enforcement Service (SächsPVDG) was completed. The project, commissioned by the Saxon State Ministry of the Interior, had been running since March 2020 and aimed to assess the applicability and impact of five public safety authorization provisions of the SächsPVDG, which came into force in 2020. The State Ministry of the Interior reports the results of the evaluation to the State Parliament.

Interview with guest researcher Gyeongsu Kim: „During my stay, I would like to gain a deeper understanding of how Germany approaches administrative service integration.“
Gyeongsu Kim will be staying at the NIPAG from June 2025 to December 2026 and he will spend the whole time at the Institutes headquarters in Speyer. We are delighted to welcome him and look forward to exchanging experiences with him. He currently works as a Deputy Director in the Korean central government, focusing on digital government and administrative service integration.

AI Compliance? Regulations on the Use of AI in Public Administration
From June 30 to July 01, the workshop “AI Compliance? - Regulations on the use of AI in public administration” will take place on the premises of The National Institute for Public Administration Germany (NIPAG) in Berlin under the direction of Prof. Dr. Jan Ziekow und Dr. Silke I. Keil.

NIPAG represented with three projects at the 18th Child and Youth Welfare Day
The 18th German Child and Youth Welfare Day (DJHT), Europe's largest youth welfare summit, took place in Leipzig from 13 to 15 May 2025. The NIPAG was actively represented with three of its own projects: The Competence Centre Youth Check (ComYC), the Project Office Youth Check Thuringia (ProJCT) and the project ‘Implementation support KJSG: Conversion of administrative structures in the area of integration assistance’ (in short: KJSG project).

The National Institute for Public Administration Germany (NIPAG) is hosting a seminar on the transformation of the civil service in its Berlin conference rooms on 12 June 2025. The event follows the publication of the book ‘The Civil Service in Europe’, which concludes a research project on the transformation of the civil service in Europe funded by the Fritz Thyssen Foundation. Around 50 researchers from numerous European countries were involved in the project. Thanks to a grant from the Federal Ministry of the Interior, the publication is also available as an open access edition.

Dr Jonas Botta as an Expert on the Reform of the Public Safety and Order Act in the Saxony-Anhalt State Parliament
On 24th April 2025, Dr Jonas Botta, a Research Associate at the NIPAG, presented his opinion as a parliamentary expert before the Committee for Internal Affairs and Sport of the Saxony-Anhalt State Parliament regarding the proposed reform of the Public Safety and Order Act of Saxony-Anhalt (SOG LSA) (LT-Drs. 8/5018). The reform primarily focuses on the introduction of new digital powers for the police.

New Work in Public Administration - Third workshop: "Satisfied with New Work? The effects of changing work on the health and satisfaction of employees"
The third workshop in the "New Work in Public Administration" series of events took place on April 2-3, 2025 with a focus on health and satisfaction in the context of New Work. The workshop was conducted by the NIPAG under the direction of Prof. Dr. Jan Ziekow and Dr. Silke I. Keil and in cooperation with the subcommittee "General Administrative Organization" (UA AV) of AK VI of the Conference of Interior Ministers in the conference rooms of the Berlin office of the NIPAG. The aim of the workshop was to get to know innovative working models in the context of New Work and to discuss their applicability, opportunities and challenges for public administration on the basis of the speakers' contributions.
