The possibilities associated with an open innovation approach are dynamic. Whereas in other countries (above all the Anglo-Saxon hemisphere) the idea of innovation labs has already been adopted, it is still in its infancy in Germany. Both academic analysis as well as practical implementation are at an early stage.
The project examines innovation laboratories at different development phases (beginning/start-up phase, expansion phase, final phase). It covers both the internal structure and workflow organisation of innovation laboratories (for example, in a city experimental space) as well as relationships with external actors (e.g. innovations with civil society, with other city actors).
