Roland Klein

Research Associate

Roland Klein is a research associate under the direction of Prof. Dr. Mario Martini. His research interest lies in digitization as a transnational process. In particular, he focuses on the intersection of international law and cyberspace.

Since 2020, Roland is pursuing his PhD at the German University of Administrative Sciences under the supervision of Prof Dr Mario Martini. His PhD thesis, “International Export Control Law and Dual-Use AI”, explores whether and to what extent international law regulates the export of dual-use AI. His doctoral research is supported by the Foundation of the German Economy (sdw).

Furthermore, Roland is involved in the Multi-disciplinary Network of Experts on Export Controls, which has contributed to the Working Group on Export Controls of the EU – US Trade and Technology Council. He is also a Law Reporter for OUP’sInternational Law in Domestic Courts” legal database.
